The ultimate aim of education is to enable individuals to become the architects of their own education and through that process to continually reinvent themselves. - Elliot W. Eisner
The question "What do Artists Do?" is posted in the Biglerville Elementary Art Studio along with a list of Studio Habits of Mind that we consider while engaged in our art making. Over the course of my career as an Art Educator I have been working towards ways to provide more meaningful choice for the young artists while still working on skills. Teaching for Artistic Behavior (TAB) has become a big part of how I have shifted away from "cookie cutter" projects with the learners and now focus on ways to provide opportunities for us to create original art.
Curious about my teaching artist life? Check out some of the wonderful adventures I have gotten to share with some brilliant young artists!
